Mariana Amaral Moreira, a fine artist with focus on visual and illustrative art, was born in Santos, Brazil, in 1988, and is currently residing in Berlin.
She is inspired by the great artists of Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity), such as Käthe Kollwitz, and the Social Realism of her own country, such as the art of Cândido Portinari. Her she concerns herself with the questioning of one’s identity in constant clash with globalized nationality borders, prejudice, and social expectations.
There will be a range of different paintings and drawings, varying techniques and motives. The overall theme, “despir-se”, has several meanings, which can be to take off (clothing), to get rid of (sad appearance) or to remove a cover.
